Reviving Rochester’s Lost Smiles

Because your smile is one of the first things people notice about you, missing teeth can really dampen your self-confidence. Also, missing teeth can be harmful to your health because they cause healthy teeth to shift positions to compensate for the gap. In extreme cases, your jaw bone can begin to deteriorate, which is why you shouldn’t ignore missing teeth for too long.

At Rochester Dental Care, we offer several options for missing teeth for patients who want to regain a natural looking smile and improve their dental health.

Partials and Dentures

Dentures are prosthetic teeth that can be removed. Available in complete sets, where all of teeth in the jaw are missing, or partial set, which replaces a few missing teeth. Generally, these partials are held in place by plastic or metal framework, depending on your situation, and typically cover the gum tissue or roof of the mouth. Because dentures are removable, they are easy to clean daily and keep your gum tissue clean.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Similar to traditional dentures, these prosthetics are anchored in place by four dental implants which make them more secure. These dentures are generally more comfortable because of the improved fit, and the use of implants makes them a better long-term solution.

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges rely on the healthy teeth adjacent to the gap left by missing teeth, because they use these remaining teeth to support a restoration. The natural enamel is prepared, and a prosthetic tooth is anchored in place by dental crowns bonded to the top of the natural teeth. Bridges are a great option for patients whose natural teeth actually need a crown restoration.

Dental Implants

Implants are the most permanent option for replacing missing teeth. Titanium rods are surgically implanted into your jawbone and act as a root system for prosthetic teeth. They have no effect on adjacent teeth, and function just like your natural teeth.
